I plan on a 3 point headphone setup like Tankbuster using 3 IR LEDS, 6v power adapter, on/off switch. I plan on snading down the leds and use 3/4 pvc attached to the headphones.
I have no, I mean no electrical experience. Power supply Input AC 120 volt 60Hz 7w Output DC 6 Volt 500mA Class 2 power Supply Adapter Radio Shack , Led High output 5mm infared LED model 276-143 Electrical Characteristics (25 degrees C) Radiant power output(100mA) -16mW min Forward Voltage -1.2V Forward Current -100mA Viewing Angle to 1/2 intensity 45 degrees Absolute max rating ( 25 degrees C) Forward Voltage (20mA)- 1.6V reverse voltage 5V Forward current 1.2A reverse Current 10qA Wavelength - 940nm SETUP MODEL 3 LEDS clip on headset or 3 LEDS cap Power Supply= 6.0 v type= Unregulated Power Supply ( IE Power Adapter) Led Fwd Voltage=1.2V Led Fwd Current = 100mA Answer: SETUP MODEL 3 LEDS clip on headset or 3 LEDS cap POWER SUPPLY Power supply (V) 6.0 V !! Attention : These unregulated power supplies usually provide a higher voltage than indicated (about 30%). Power supply voltage adjusted for processing : +30% => 7.8 V LED Led forward voltage (V - manufacturer info) 1.2 V Led forward current (mA - manufacturer info) 100 mA LED ASSEMBLY S : serial assembly RESISTOR COUNT 1 resistor(s) needed for the complete kit RESISTOR THEORICAL VALUE 42 Ohms RESISTOR CHOICE E24 SERIES Resistor value 43 Ohms 5% Current 97.7 mA Dissipated power 0.41 Watts Total current in assembly 97.7 mA Wiring diagram I hope I get this right and not fry myself. Current------->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> P--------------*-------------------* Current 0 S * RESISTER 43 Ohms I using 68 Ohm W W + V E I * LED V R T *LED V S C *LED V U H + V P------------- * -----------------* <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Current<<<<<<<<<< > current direction, * connection Could not find 43 Ohm resister found this 68 Ohm 1/2 watt 5% this is about a 30% rise in resistance. I could use some help with this diagram if it is wrong |

Off line Www |
Hello !
There is no need to use 100mA for your LEDs. Usually, with this kind of LED, we recommend to use 70mA. Rémy |

Remy I was looking for IR LEDs that had the required wide angle and I have all ready bout the leds and resisters. I just need to get an on off switch, I am luck I am doing a seried instead of a parrel. That would have been a nightmare for me. |
