Hello there,

At first thanks for all the support, FAQ's, guides and many more this really helped me out a lot.

I am very insecure in the things I am buying. I would really appreciate it if you can share some of your time with me and look over my buying list.

What do I want to build?

I want to build the 3 Point side clip with the PS3 eye cam.

Cam

I already bought the ps3 eye cam, can some one give me a link to a functional drop box with the drivers? Or I'll just buy em for 2$. What else do I need for the PS3 eye? A clip to attach it to my monitor and some sort of RGB Filter right? I guess I just get my hands on an old floppy disk or do you recommend something else?

3 Clip Serial USB wired

I guess I can get everything that was mentioned in this guide http://www.free-track.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=1856&page=1

my Buying list:

copper isolated cable red and black

Rocker Switch

PTC Fuse
http://www.reichelt.de/PFRA-010/3/index.html?&ACTION=3&LA=446&ARTICLE=35201&artnr=PFRA+010&SEARCH=PTC+fuse

And some other stuff I dont really think its to important to mention.. like cable ties, VDE Insulating Tape, Dot matrix board, Led Mounting clips

Other Questions

Where do I have to put the Fuse and the rocket switch in the shema? Is it = USB > FUSE > Switch > Resistor > LED,LED,LED?

I hope you can help me out, I wish you a nice weekend

best regards

Hi,

in order of your questions:

I have found this one for the PS3 Eye driver:

Try first without removing the ir-filter, with daylight filter only. Floppy disk, coloured plastic sheets, scotch tape or whatever.

If you are not 100% sure in electronic stuff, don't use your PC USB ports.
Get any 5V USB charger (old mobile charger or this cheap accessory  (1.4m cable inside)).
So you do not risk anything for your motherboard (wrong wiring can blow it up) and do not even need a PTC fuse.

Cable is ok. But if you got any old data cable, lan cable, printer cable, or what so ever litz wire, just fiddle one wire out of it.  Then you're the king of recycling. :)

LED's are ok (get the double in case of...)

Resistors are ok. You probably need 10Ohm for 5V build or 6.8Ohm if LEDs are not bright enough.

Switch.  You do not need a switch if you don't build a battery build. Just pull out the charger. Otherwise in a serial circuit you can put it in where you want.

Thanks Steph!

Well what would happen when its wrong wired and goes into the USB Charger? Would it blow up my appartments fuse?

Do you really think I could fire it wrong? It doesnt seem too complicated. But I have a USB Charger laying around here anyway so I'll take that.

I know myself very good I am to lazy for pulling out the charger all the time, I cant get there easily. So I'll go with the switch variant if its as easy as putting a switch in the circuit

So again thanks Steph, I see you answering many questions in this board you are amazing! :)

best regards

Hi,

thx you're welcome.

No, most modern switched-mode power supplies got short circuit protection inside. I'm not sure older mainboards are protected the same way. Better going the safe way.
