Hi,

I have succesfully configured 4-points tracking in Freetrack. Works perfectly in the skull demo.

However, if I try to load a game (LFS, GTR2, TDU) it won't start. Just freezes to not responding screen. All other non-trackIR supported games work fine.

Any thoughts? I have tryed to disable all background softwares, reinstalled catalyst drivers, reinstalled DirectX, reinstalled Freetrack with no luck. The games work fine if Freetrack is _not installed_ (closing it is not enough).

:snif:

*What's your operating system? If it's XP make sure you have SP2 installed.

*Have you ever installed a version of Freetrack prior to 2.1?

*In Freetrack click on 'About,' is the NPClient version 1.3.1.0?

*Check your registry: Start -> Run -> regedit and look for:

Software\NaturalPoint\NaturalPoint\NPClient Location

and check that the 'Path' points to your Freetrack install directory.

*Try disabling: Global -> Auto load profile in Freetrack.

Thanks for the quick reply.

OS is Windows XP SP2.

This is my first time trying Freetrack (2.1). I also never had trackIR.

NPClient 1.3.1.0, check.

Registry path, check.

I disabled auto load profile. Unfortunately it had no effect (also tryed using different profiles). Computers are funny.

Do non-trackir games work fine while Freetrack is running and tracking?

Yes, they work fine.

I tryed to install Freetrack in safe mode, but no luck. It's strange that the supported games won't run even if I shut off Freetrack. Only uninstalling helps.

With Freetrack installed but not running:

*Rename NPClient.dll to something different.

Try running a TIR game.

*Change NPClient.dll back to its original name and change the name of FreetrackFilterSSE2.ax to something different.

Try running a TIR game.

Aah, games work fine after I did that.

No luck with this one.

I checked that firewall or antivirus is not, in some kinky way, blocking access to that dll. No, they weren't.

Try disabling them and if that doesn't work, consider uninstalling them.

Kestrel, I have exactly the same problem, and all ttr said is the same here.

It happens only with DiRT. However, if I rename NPClient.dll to something else, the game works.

Other games like TDU and rFactor work fine.

Do you have anymore tips? Or maybe its a game bug?

Thanks.

Hi, me again.

Anyone?

Did anyone manage how to make DiRT work?

Just tested ToCA Race Driver 3 and it works fine too. But no luck with DiRT.

I installed the software, but it did not overwrite the NPClient Location registry key, so I had to change the Path manually.

The game works fine.

Schyz reported it to be working in August:

http://forum.free-track.net/index.php?showtopic=80&hl=dirt#565

NPClient wasn't significantly changed between then and the October v2.1 release.

Have you patched Dirt?

Mine is patched 1.1

I will patch to 1.2 and let you know.

Thanks.

btw, I asked a local LED store (yes,  they only sell LEDs  B) ) to build a IR LED Cannon. Its a PCB with 12 IR LEDs and they told me it shines up to 10 meters ahead  :dev: . Powerfull thing... I think that should be enough to use with the reflectors Im building.
