hi fellows
i´ve built my 3 point clip yesterday. used the recommended leds, a 6 volt power supply and a 47 ohm resistor. as a webcam i got the microsoft vx 3000. when i get it to run, i´ll post some photos. operating system is win xp and there are no other applications running, that are using the webcam. now i´m trying to make it work. the webcam is prepared by removing the ir-filter and i also put a part of the floppydisk in front of the lense. when i start freetrack in "cam-mode" i can see the 3 lights quite bright on the videoscreen, but when i moove the clip, the "head" is not reacting at all. beneeth the source-button it says 30 fps and 0 jps. the red lights beneeth the center-button do not shine. (i tested it before the webcam modifications, and i could make the head moove a little when i set the threshhold really low) testing with my tv remote control does also not work. i also see the light, but the head also does not moove. i really would appreciate your help. greets |

'Cam' tab - > 'Point size'
Try to reduce Min. point size. You should see cross on every light dot. That's indication FreeTrack sees points. Maybe you don't need visible light filter at all. Threshold should be high (slider on right side). Dots are white, everything else is black. |

Unable to get head to move.
I am running Win Xp and VX1000. My min point size is 2 pixels, threshhold all the way to the right and exposure is at 24. I have the black screen and can get the white dot to move around with my TV remote but no head movement at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Foxtrot |

Wild guess: Did you change to '1 single point' on 'Model' tab? |

So, you have 3 dots (with 3 point clip) with crosses over them and still no movement? Strangely...

No I'm still testing with the TV remote. I haven't finished my three point cap. I'm hoping to see this work first.
Before I modified the camera, I turned on FreeTrack and could get spurius movements of the head. I exited FreeTrack and unplugged the camera from the usb port, modified it for IR and plugged it back. Opened FreeTrack and got no head movement. |

While you are testing with rc, go to 'Model' tab and choose '1 single point'. In bottom right corner it should be icon with head and number 1. Bellow, it should be 1 green and 4 grey 'lights'. It is indication that you have one dot 'in track'.
This is important because with '3 point clip' and 1 light source, head is not supposed to move. Also, try to get closer with rc. Maybe, dot is still small... If it doesn't work, take print screen and post it... Hope it will work at the end |

I have uninstalled and reloaded FreeTrack and Live Cam VX-1000.No Help.
The 1 point profile icon is visible in the lower right corner. There are five blank indicators, no single red indicator. I am unable to paste a screenshot. ??? |

I've just tried with rc. It have really big dot. I needed to move back, to make dot smaller, to get tracking work. Also my rc light flickers. Just a few jinks moves.
So, I took cigarette lighter (although I quit ) with blue LED and make SS for you. What are differences (except in cam model) compared to your screen? Do you have cross on light? |

1. I do not have the crosshair on the spot
2. I have all zeros in the data boxes 3. My fram.......... I recyled to stop, looked at streaming, came back to start and lo and behold it looks like it's working. Yes,s, the head is moving and tracking the remote. I didn't change anything, just switched back and forth. My spot is now red with crosshairs Unbelievable!! Now I'm going to carefully retrace my steps and and what's happening. I'll keep you posted on any new developments. Now for the three led cap project. Thanks a million for your help, fantastic! I'm glad that works
Also, its recommended to change dot color to white. - Go to 'Cam' tab - Before starting tracking click on 'Stream' - Change 'Color space / compression' to 'I420' (or anything else but RGB24/RGB32) |
