Forward voltage If=100mA, tp=20ms Vf is 1.5 (1.8) V Does this mean I can use max 1.8volt and 1.5volt will be calculated

Tristan68 is the best to answer to this question.
Sorry, i can't help you for this one. IR Led SFH485P support 1,5V max only ... Best valu are 70 ma for each led, with 1,5 volts max on each led ... for my 3 dots cap model i use 3 x SFH485P, 2 x AAA in serial, and 3 R to have 70 ma on each led (look 3 dot cap pdf document in freetrack 2.2.0.279 package ... You will see my model ...)

oke 1.5Volt is the max used volt and must be used in the LED calculator?
Amperes is depending on your system but thats all to read in the Hardware FAQ . |

I will borrow this thread too if you don't mind. So you have connected the leds in parallel? What kind of battery life does those 2xAAA give? I'm using SFH485P and VX-1000 and I'm bit confused what kind of voltage and current does my system need. Farnell says Voltage, Vf Typ:3V but I now noticed the specs pdf with says that 1.5(1.8)V. Previously I aimed to 3V and 30 mA but apparently I was wrong and I should aim for 1.5V and 70mA? No chance on 30mA when VX-1000 is modded with IR- and visible light filter? One AAA gives something like 850mAh so with two in series you get the same? So overall you get battery life of 850mAh / ( 3*70mA ) = 4 hours? Am I correct? So if I want more battery life I should use 2xAA so I would get something like 2200mAh and battery life would be 10 hours? And if I want more I would have to take it from USB or other Power supply?

Yeah Instead of each of us making our own thread I am here as a representative of like 5 people..
We are all building our 3-led point models together. Here are the IR led's were buying. http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a-store/item/ILED-8/T-1-3/4-INFRARED-LED-EMITTER/-/1.html The spec sheet is here.. http://www.allelectronics.com/mas_assets//spec/ILED-8.pdf We all plan on using 9 Volt batteries for power, figuring the best life out or it. Can someone just tell us what watt/ohm resistors to use? I have plugged what I though was the right spec's but I don't want to get it wrong. ----------------------------- on a side note I need to hook 4 of these superbright red LED's up to USB 5v power. http://www.allelectronics.com/index.php?page=item&id=LED-94&extra=a%3A2%3A{i%3A0%3Bs%3A40%3A%2203823345592a403b2f4a37a59384e7ab28f02be1%22%3Bi%3A1%3Bs%3A0%3A%22%22%3B} Heres the spec sheet. http://www.allelectronics.com/mas_assets//spec/LED-94.pdf
