First, thanks a bunch for a great piece of software! A donation is in the works.

My question is about the TrackIR interface. As I understand it, if FT "finds" TIRViews.dll in the root folder, the TIRViews text should be black, not greyed out. This is in the Output/Main tab.
Not for me. A small chain link is shown. I for sure have have TIRViews in the root directory of FT. TIRViews is grey.
Possibly this is the cause of IL2/FT operation to be intermittent. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Usually no.
Condor works great and FS2004 not really.
Generally my experience is this:
  FT is started, IL2 profile selected and FT started. Skull works great.
  Pause FT, start IL2 and build a simple mission. Fly.
  IL2 loads up, the instrument panel comes up, ready to fly.
  Resume FT and center FT. IL2 sort of stumbles for a bit then FT seems to
  start. Maybe view changes a small amount. Then no movement.
  Pause/Resume FT. Nothing. IL2 continues on OK. Just no communication
  between FT and IL2.
  I shut down IL2 all the way and bring up FT. FT seems to be frozen. I can
  Stop/Start FT to get the skull working properly.

I have re-installed FT. No change. IL2 has really only worked well once.
Just TrackIR Interface should be selected, correct? Not with FT interface.
Does TrackIR need to be installed, but not run? Or is just TIRViews.dll the only thing needed from NP.

I am using a Logitech Quickcam IM, 3 point cap and IR diodes
Windows 2000 SP4/3.2 GHZ P4
IL2 4.08m/ latest FT version
Will try newest Logitech drivers next.

Why the intermittent "connection" between IL2 and FT?

Update: Installed newest Logitech driver. No change.
             Discovered FT less likely to freeze when it is not Paused before
             starting IL2.
             Switched IL2 to windowed mode. Was Fullscreen mode. Much
             more consistent in keeping connection between the two
             applications.
             Lastly, am able to Pause/Resume FT while in IL2 once everything
             is working OK. But, it appears FT gets confused once in a while
             between which HotKey I push; F9 Pause or F12 Center.
             No HotKey conflicts between FT and IL2 that I can see.

FT still is inconsistent on IL2 startup when IL2 in Fullscreen mode. That's what I like to fly in. More grist for the mill, though.

I've been using FT 2.2 for IL-1946 without problems and the TIRViews in the Output/Main tabs is greyed out.  I do have both FT and TrackIR interface ticked.
I usually start FT and check that my skull is tracking and centered then minimize it. Start IL-1946, setup mission and fly. If I need to center it again Shift+F12.  I don't pause FT, not sure why you would need too,  but it could be your P4 cpu getting bogged down.  Running a 8400 duo core, 8800gts.
