Hi all !!

Thanks for this software !!! Very appreciated !!!

I'm now testing FTrack with my cam Trust WB1400T, I got MAX 26 fps.... I've tried to set 30 fps in the cam drivers settings..., but FT still give me 26...
I've also unchecked the autoexposure in the drivers settings ...but nothing changes...
These drivers do not permitt to turn off the antiflicker.... : a n g r y :
I'm using it with X-Plane, and in 3D view I got a lot of jitters...during panning... I use it with one IR led.

Does anybody can help me, PLEASE....

Thanks a lot in advance !!!

Hi my friend. I got the Trust WB-1200p and I can tell I get 30 fps all the time. It´s not a matter of drivers settings, only how good the Freetrack tracks the LED. Did you removed the ir filter of the cam? This really helps with the tracking. As for the jitter, you just have to set the Average a little more higher I think. Post your progress, I´m sure you´ll make it.

Don´t worry, it was my first webam too that I modded, but it´s really easy. As I can see, you have to set the focus by unsrewing the lens ring at the front, right? Well, unscrew it until it comes out and then, you´ll see at the back of the lens ring a small red tinted square glass. Just take it out and put a negative cut into shape instead. That´s all. Let us posted how you did.

....cam modded !!! No more IR glass-filter, added one small piece of colour negative film. Calibrated in freetrack, but no fps gain...still 26  : (

So, I tested with x-plane, it works, but with some jitters during image panning... I've stopped after few minutes to avoid any stomach problems... you know...  : w a c k o :

I've also seen that, after cam modding, the light of my led is too big for the FT gui screen...also at the max webcam resolution. I use ONE IR LED 5mm ( not OSRAM ) with two 1,5v batteries and two resistors in series...( about 100 ohm tot ).

I don't know... maybe trying to use a different filter, MMX or the other one from this site...could help ??

Thanks !!!

ps. could you please post a screenshot of your camera settings in FT gui ( brightness, exposure...etc etc ); just to check.

TThanks... :-)

Try reducing the 'threshold' slider on the main screen.Worked for me with my camera/light set up.

There are, as far as I know, four ways to configure the IR source. The threshold slider is the most obvious. Then is sanding the LED so that the light dispers more even. Third, use a bigger resistance, it will bring also the light down and finally, as I discovered accidently, cover the LED with tissue paper!! As for the jitter,  you have to give some more -Advance-. Try to play with the responce curves too. Believe me, it´s not a matter that much of the cam configuration, rather of the programm, but I assure you, everything you need is already there!!!

Ooook ! Understood  ; )

Just to update my progress...

- sanded my IR led, I can confirm....it helps a lot !! The "light" now is better in the FT red-screen, with a wider angle of radiation.. FINE !!

- I've also played with the cam focus, and the light is not so big as before.

- Still 26 fps... but it works with some jitters...as before.

I'll try to play more with response curve in FT.

Thanks again !!!

Hi,

I have the same Trust Webcam as you have. I get stable 30 FPS with the following settings:

Cam Settings

Remember to save your settings or the Camera might forget what you set it to. And use i420 as the video format and not RGB 24

Hi Rask,
thanks for your screen !!!

I have tried FT with your values, now I can play more with threshold slider ... FINE !!!

Also tried to change the filter...MMX...SSE, nothing changes.

What about fps... still 26 max.

...mhhh, does the USB port can interfere with fps..., I have 4 usb all busy-> Joy - Printer - Ext HDD - WebCam  ..of course : ) .

Thanks guys !!!!!!!!!!

I made screenshots of my FT settings. Maybe they'll help you a bit even if they are for my 3 LED setup.

Threshold Setting

Profile Setting

About the usb port. That might be an Bottleneck. Maybe you can try to disconnect some stuff and just try the Cam to see if things improve?

If you are interested in some other screenshots then just tell me and i put them up.

Rask... MANY thanks for these screens !!

Just for fun I've tried a different webcam -> Logitech Quick Express ( not IR modded...it's not mine...), I have to admitt that the cam from Trust seems to be faster in responsiveness - the driver from Logitech do not save settings ( as already known..).

With Quickcam I can have 30-31 fps, so I can say I've no "bottleneck" in my USB port, maybe this gain in fps is due to the chance I have to disengage antiflickering in Logitech driver settings while in the Trust's one is not allowed...

I think I'll keep my Trust WB1400T, it's cheaper then Logitech Quickcam Express, and it has a very good value for the money.

Thanks for this software !!

Thanks you all for your suggestions about FT settings !!!

Cheers !!

fps isn't a priority for normal webcam use, but if they advertise it as 30fps... : p i n c h :

Switching from Indoor to outdoor helped me go from 20fps to 30fps using my MS VX-1000 however I set my average down to 1 to get a quicker response time.

Please check your CPU usage. I get about 8% by freetrack alone. It may be that there is not enough CPU to run your game smoothly with freetrack ?
