G'day and thank you for a fantastic free product!
I have one small problem: FreeTrack crashes unexpectedly during operation and at random times (although I think it may be related to CPU/RAM load at the time). After crashing, my webcam also stops until I unplug it and then reconnect it. So far I've only used it in Flight Simulator X (where it works very well!). Do you have any ideas on what may cause this? Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks, Rob |

post your hardware spec please so we'll have a more clear picture of your problem, oh and please do mention any other unusual program like forced driver or something of the sort.
but if you play FSX i suspect it would be quite a well built machine, if so then maybe your problem lies in the software department rather than hardware. |

I got sometimes the same problem but I noticed that is somehow caused by "overlighting", I mean when somehow the cam gets suddenly too much light at once. Then the programm crashes and the cam is "away". Keep dark (is what I do).

Siom...
I also have the VX-1000 - At 320x240 freetrack will only give me 20fps even though I have set it to 30fps If you are getting higher fps can you please post your camera settings ??? Thanks, John B |

RGB24 tends to do this, always use I420 if you can. |

I use the camera in a darkened room and have green LEDs (four on a hat) as the trackers. My specs are:
Processor: GenuineIntel Family 15 Model 2 3.1 GHz Stepping 9 (2 CPUs) Math Support: Present BIOS: A M I - 10000331, 10/31/03 Bus Type: PCI, ISA, USB Ports: 1 Parallel, 2 Serial Memory: 2047 MB (17% Utilized) Floppy Disks: 1.44 MB Hard Disks: 186.31 GB, 5.99 GB Multimedia: Sound, Joystick, CD-ROM Video: 1280 x 1024 in 32-Bit Color, RADEON X800 Series Ver. 6.14 < Operating System > Windows: 5.1 (Build 2600) Net Clients: Microsoft Terminal Services Microsoft Windows Network Web Client Network ********************* * Display Summary * ********************* Monitor: Default Monitor Video Chipset: RADEON X800 Series Ver. 6.14 Resolution: 1280 x 1024 in 32-Bit Color I suspect the software may be an issue (but maybe the camera's faulty?). I haven't been able to find better drivers than I have (SoC PC-Camera Provider version 0.1.3.3). If anyone can suggest a better one, I'd love to know! My camera is a generic one. Thanks for all the replies, Rob |

as i suspected you got a pretty well built rig, i can't see any problems there but i'm no freetrack programmer so wait for Kestrel's reply.
but i suggest try fixing your software first before buying a webcam or something. well whichever you think is less troublesome and or expensive anyways as far as i know though webcams shouldn't cause any freetrack crashes, i use to use a emulated webcam via PocketPC PDA, then My sony handycam, and last my logitech webcam, they all runs fine! for camera recommendations go to http://freetrack.online.fr/forum/index.php?showtopic=39 although most prefers the Microsoft VX-1000 it's supposedly well priced and has good performances. me i use Logitech Quickcam IM |

Try with red or orange leds , they are more suitable for Freetrack , green leds produce small dots and tracking is difficult .
----------------- Utilise des leds rouges ou oranges , elles sont plus adaptées pour Freetrack , les leds verts sont moins bien détectées par freetrack et ka caoture en est difficile . |

Finally got my SoC PC Camera to work with FreeTrack v2. It needed to use the I420 video standard, rather than RGB24, along with the IR filter.
Now to get it to work in FSX... Thanks all. Rob |
