Hi
I'm designing a basic 3 IR LED Cap tracking device. I have seen the many examples of designs on your forum and I am confident that this design is the best for what I plan to do. My tracking device is meant for Open Falcon 4.5, Falcon 4.0 Allied Force, and FS2004. I have already put together the LED mounts on my hat but I did it without exact calculations (80cm width apart) etc. I mostly based my spacing on what I saw others do. Is there a specific distance and configuration for my 3 LED cap? I've looked all over your site but I am still not sure if "ball park" distance is fine or if you need to calculate exact measurements. Help appreciated Habu |

Hello,
You can find the default distances in the Hardware FAQ or in the Model's FreeTrack tab. But you can also measure the distances of your cap and copy them in the Model tab . Rémy |

thanx for the reply
yeah I have seen both examples on the Hardware FAQ and 3 LED Cap tab on the program. I am still confused whether there are specific standards you have to follow to make the cap or you can make up any distance you want as long as its consistent with the actual distance on your cap between LEDs. For instance, on the Hardware FAQ it suggests 40mm spacing between the outside and middle LED. Thats almost an inch in distance! All the designs including my own are about 3-4 inches in spacing between the outside LED's! I'm just confused whether you need to follow certain parameters or you can make the spacing whatever length as long as its actually like that on your cap. |
