I cant for the life of me get my LED's to work, I have IR modded my webcam (Microsoft VX-3000), added visible light filter, and then tested with a remote control and freetrack picks that up fine, but I cannot get it to pick up my led's.

Using these LED's (techsheet), a 9v battery and a 82ohm resistor (which apparantly should allow about 65mA @ 1.2v)

wavelength of the beam shouldn't be an issue as the camera is IR modded, and I'm aware the viewing angle is a little narrower than ideal but I should at least get something from them (I can sand down the tips later to increase the view angle).

So any ideas?? Thx for looking either way..

EDIT : Nvm I got it working for some reason it worked 2nd time around, but I do need to ask, whats the best way of taking the cone off an led to increase the viewing angle?

Check the polarity of the LEDs, I'm guessing one of them is backwards and preventing the current from flowing.

Failing that check all the soldering and check the wiring with a multimeter. And try a new battery if you haven't already.

Why don't you just buy wide angle diods. This might be easier then trying to modify yours.

I definately didn't get the polarity wrong, and there is no solder to check as its all just roughtly put together , this rig was just a test to ensure the components worked and that the camera is setup right..but anyway it's working now..

in all honesty impatience :), getting wide angle LED's would have meant buying online and waiting on delivery, I will be ordering some anyway for replacements but for now this was the best I could get
