I have read so many posts and looked a some videos and now I'm a little confused.

For the IR LED's will these work? ... Also does the color of the LED's matter?

They are 5MM which I understand is recommended and the viewing angle is 180 Degrees. Is that to much as I see most of the ones you talk about are like 40 - 65 degrees.
Is brighter better when it comes to making one of these? for example..

Hi Chris,

Both of these LEDs are gonna be okay. If you can, go for the first one : the larger is the view angle the better.

However, both these leds are not IR ones. The best IR leds for FreeTrack emmit with a wave length around 880 nm.

If you can't get IR leds, Red leds are the better ones. The leds you've choosen are definitely very good red leds, but they are not IR, that the problem.

Hello,

do you plan to remove your webcam's IR filter ? If you do, I think this LED is ok. If you don't, the peak wavelenght can be a problem cause it sometimes can't get trough the IR filter (better : 880nm).
