I have been looking around the forums a bit and I noticed that most people are saying the SFH485P have a forward voltage of 1.5

I just received mine in the mail today and my sfh485p's say their forward voltage is 3V.... was it possible I somehow ordered wrong or have people been posting the wrong forward voltage?

Read this thread http://forum.free-track.net/index.php?showtopic=513

Two foward voltages are listed on the datasheet (download datasheet here http://catalog.osram-os.com/catalogue/catalogue.do;jsessionid=E5AC00F7890F307A66BD4933DC69D2FE?act=downloadFile&favOid=020000030000cd51000100b6 )

1.5V is what you should use (explanation is in above thread)

Thanks for the quick replies. Since Im not sending them back.. I figured I would try them out anyway. I made a quick circuit with a 9v battery and resister hooked to one of them, and it seems to be working great. So what would be the downfall to using them? Will they burn out quick or what?
