I see your point, but I'm not that handy and I'm not quit sure if the camera will work when I put it together... When I get a new one, I pay more, but using the correct filter, I should be able to get a good tracking device I think My point of view is: 20 euro ==> not sure if I'm able to get it right and not sure how it works... 40 euro ==> sure it works and I get a working webcam as well (only lightly modified for IR, whilst the other lens is optimazed for it) Cheers! |

You can get PS3 Eye for about 15€ on the net.

I really don't understand your point. If it's everything compatible, why shouldn't it work? I have this objective lens and I'm not even using filters. This consumerist approach is wrong to me. But okay, it's your money, as long as you dispose of the old device properly (although never sustainable). Cheers

I just ment that I have to drill a hole to fit the lens, right? But I don't know where the holes have to come or how I should do it... Don't also think I have the equipment for making such a small hole. But if that installment works, your telling me I do not need any modification and I would be ready to go? You said you have that setup: does that work better than the normal PS3 cam with photofilm over it? Grtz |

I think I got some good news: I was able to unscrew the M12 mount (like in your link http://www.ebay.it/itm/S-Mount-M12-Board-Lens-Holder-/110840910642?pt=UK_CCTV&hash=item19cea21332) from the lens itself that I broke... The M12 mount itself is only lightly damaged and should be able to keep a new lens in place! So it's the original M12 mount one, meaning that it'll fit right back on to the circuitbord where it belongs! And if I understood you correctly, I will able to buy the new lens for 20 euro and screw it on, right? So no need to start drilling I hope... Just hope that I haven't damaged the circuitbord by during the proces of opening the cam. Thanks in advance again!

That's exactly what I meant. Take an accurate measurement of the distance between the holes (from centre to centre):

Yes, you wouldn't need to drill anything in any case: you would only screw the new objective lens to the camera. Now the decision shifted to whether or not get a new M12 mount. It depends on the integrity of the mount that you have, but I would recommend getting a new one. It's up to you.

Yeah, just saw a video telling that the original mount is to small to hold that new M12 lens... correct?
So I'll still need to fit a new M12 mount and therefor I need to messure the distance ... EDIT: just did the messurement with a regular ruler and it looks like 1,8 cm But I also see some damage on the outsides of the circuitbord because of extracting it out of the cam, hopefully I haven't damaged a crucial part. Any way to test this without a working lens? Grtz

What video? The mount should be the same. The only problem is that, if I remember correctly, it has glue in it. But if you get the mount + the objective lens you would combine them in a single shipment since they're from the same seller, so I really don't see a big dilemma here.

Take 5 measurements and calculate the average.
Sure, just carefully connect it to the PC and see if it works with the CL Eye test, although you would see just a white image. If you see it, it's OK.

This was the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KywyZDUQBIk&feature=related So I could just get the new M12 mount together with the new lens. I can try the new M12 mount, but if it doesn't fit exactly I could still use my old one So no hard steps to do if I understand you: - Order lens + M12 mount - Screw on new M12 mount and then the new lens (- if the new M12 mount doesn't work, I still have my old one as back-up) - Put the camera back together - Cross fingers and hope that the circuitbord is still working properly Correct? |

Correct, but do the test that I told you before purchasing anything. Also, the new mount comes with no screws (at least mine), so you'll have to take care of the original screws until the package arrives to use them. So if your measurement is correct you should get this mount, which is the 18 mm version. Check the distance carefully, though. Cheers and good luck
