ok screw the headset, to heavy with all those cables and not stable enough like i built it... and i want to hear my 5.1 system ;P
So now my hopefully last Prototype: ok... the wires look a little unprofessional but i had to redoo them 3 times now, next version will look better on the inside but that is ok for me now |

Hi.
This is my 3-point model: I use it for IL2: 1946, and it works perfectly ! U´ll notice that this design uses the same positions and distances between the LEDs like theyre used at the basic 3-point cap model. But the LEDs are place about 90mm closer the the head then it is at the standard cap designs. There are no limitations at movement detection between this design and the orignal 3-point cap design. This design reduces the risk of leaving the cameras viewing angle ! So this design is more reliable then the standard cap designs, with same accuracy and expanded head movement zone ! (no, i didnt have to chance settings in free-track, it works fine with a standard - IL2 - profile and the standard free-track 3-point cap presets) |

Hello guys,
When I found FreeTrack as being a *free* head tracking system, I was so excited that started right away to work on a point model. So here's what I've came up with. The base of the design is a cheapo-mostly-plastic tripod for photo-cameras, bought from the local Dollarama store. The resistors are hidden inside the rods (tubes), which are wrapped in black PVC tape because these rods are shiny, and produce a lot of parasite light. I don't like the tape being used like that, so I'm searching for an alternative - some type of light, matte-black tubes, made out of foam or some other elastic material. The tripod is then attached to the cap with a single screw; the ON-button attaches with its own screw, and the battery pack is stitched. So, overall, easy to move to a different support, though I don't intend to; I like this cap Cheers. |

had some problems but ended up replacing my usb power cord and reversing the polarities on the LEDS (no idea why the longer was the positive)

Here's my point model. When I get my hands on a better camera I'll post some nicer pics.
Simple 3 point cap(less) model, powered by an AC adapter. Works perfectly as far as I can tell. If anyone's interested I'll be happy to share construction info. Thanks to the FreeTrack devs for making this great software available. |

Very nicely done Lepus.
And here is my first attempt........ I have since had to extend the led's forward to have them point in same direction and all is OK. Will make a Ver 2.0 soon, will be much neater........software is only hiccup now oh and a shot of my new glue gun

Does the use of reflective surfaces works in game?? Asking because I am about to begin making myself a new Clip, and not really comfortable with electronics.. And plus, the above one looks easier.. |

First, excuse my English, will use a translation software. ;-)
A friend followed the details of the site that I did to help in assembling using adhesives. http://www.nilojr.com.br -> "Projetos DIY" -> "Track-IR" (site em português) Put out the photos he sent me to give you a look. Great stuff, can of soda used to make the media convex and adhesives for hard-rider. The capture card is a Pixelview PlayTV and camera tracking an equal to that use.
