Sorry the picture above looks to have the correct dimensions. I thought that picture was in a sticky for the construction thread...

My printer will only do a 4x4x4 cube, is there a version of this I could still print?

inch or cm?
cm is definitely to short. 4 inch you can give it a try, (just scale it down and don't forget to fill up the dimensions in Freetrack, batterie, of course won't fit any more). But tracking will be very nervous and less accurate. |

it's 4"x4"x4". I'll try scaling and see how it works

Yeah scaling it didn't work, it's not really even solid if it makes sense.

Hm, perhaps you can print the real size in several pieces and glue it?
Of course you need to modify the 3D model to fit the pieces together. |

So I found a place locally that will 3d print stuff for free, so I have one of these printing up sometime next week.
Does anyone have a list of the parts I will need? I will prob order from digikey. I plan on using network cable for wiring unless you think they are too thick. |

Free 3D printing? Nice! For other parts, here's my last order from digikey: LEDs and battery pack are pretty self-explanatory. (Note don't be dumb like me and order 9 LEDs. The price drops when you buy 10+) I also ordered 4 different values of resistors since they're so cheap. 30 ohm: standard brightness with non-rechargeable AAs 18 ohm: standard brightness with rechargeable AAs 15 ohm: little extra bright with rechargeable AAs 9 ohm: idk, bought them cause why the hell not Network cable will work fine btw. Cat5 wires are generally 22-24 gauge which is perfect. Just don't get your colors mixed when soldering. EDIT: Looks like digikey isn't selling small qty of the LED anymore. Not sure what's up with that.

Sorry for my late reaction, i just check the forum once in a while.
Nice to see my clip is appreciated! Thnx ugotdan and snyderbl for your kind comments on it Funny to see you guys busy building my clip. I designed the clip just for my headset. The 2 flaps on the end fit perfect on mine, but this is useless for any other headsets. I was thinking of doing an update on the clip. I was thinking of making a 2x AAA batteryholder attached on the clip which can be mounted on both sides so you can choose te wear it right or left on your head. The ends of the tubes should have a small edge to glue the LED to. Now its just an open end and i had some trouble myself mounting the LED's straight on the tube. Maybe you guys have some ideas how this can be improved. Let me know and i will make a better clip! |

Cool thanks! What kind of life do you get on rechargeables?
Also, anyone use aaa's instead? If so what holder do you use? |

I had my first clip printed on a $30,000 3D printer, and the step at the end of the tubes for the LEDs is perfect, the rim sits just inside the tubes. However, I had the rest built on cheaper repro machines and the LEDs didn't fit, so I just use a dremel tool to touch the inside of the tube do the LEDs
