I make your words mine, Arrowhead. Guys, did you notice the PETITION already has almost 1500 signatures? And tomorrow it will complete exactly 1 month since it was created!!! Check it here: http://www.petitiononline.com/arma2pet/petition.html The total number the petition shows us in big letters is only from the last page of it (i don't know why it works that way). To see the real number of signatures in the petition you have to plus the total number of signatures from each page and subtract the total number of pages (cause one signatures repeats from a page to the next one). From tomorrow on, we should show this PETITION to Suma and ask him if 1,5k persons interested in Freetrack implemented in ArmA2 is enough for him and BIS to make their words concretized. Best regards and thanks for those who signed it!

Are you sure about that counting Ferujo? it looks to me like roughly 50 sigs per page (with a 1 sig overlap as you say) for a total of 362 so far)...
maybe I'm just reading it wrong... Either way, with around 240+ on the BIS forums thats still a fairly hefty number of signatures right enough... I wouldn't be in any major hurry to pressure BIS again at this point... they're still sweating over the fabled Patch One-Oh-Three - which everyone hopes will fix all their problems... Of course - it won't - though in true BIS style it will go some way towards getting the game on an even keel at least... Once the realisation that it's probably gonna be a year and patch 1.08 at least before the game is fairly stable - like Arma1 - an awful lot of the new customers will just drop the product and walk away, disappointed... Its happening already - look at Amazon UK - they're selling Arma 2 at half price! - A lousy £17.99 plus free postage now! - (what's that? 20 Euros or so??.. it's been out 2 months and it's a bargain bin item)... Time to give my german copy to Fried who picked it up for me back in May, and buy an english version for the price of 3 packs of cigarettes! (* notice the "buy" in that sentence BIS? you'll see a lot of that on these forums, despite what you believe!) I've taken to occasionally nudging Placebo to bump the BIS poll back to page 1 of "suggestions" when I see it slipping... an artifice at best, since the poll isn't allowed to ride free on the wave of public interest as it should - otherwise it would be on page 1 all by itself and have a helluva lot more posts!! He's been nice enough about it so far, so credit where it's due I guess.. (Un?)fortunately, we're ALL hardcore longterm BIS game fans - god help us - we're in for the long ride... I really don't see any massive hurry to "close the polls and be counted" right now - nothing is gonna be done by BIS until they've dragged their asses thru another seriously required patch, and hopefully salvaged enough sales to keep afloat... Perhaps by then they'll be more likely to listen to some commonsense... Perhaps by then they'll also have begun to see that all this controversy isn't confined to BIS - that they're just the latest developers in a series of controversies that NP are littering in their wake... As each new game with encrypred API is released, the same storm rages, the same Forum mayhem, the same sadly necessary cracks/patches appear... eventually - compromises ARE reached... History WILL repeat itself... And sooner or later BIS will realise that - at that stage it'll be up to them how they play it... will they be seen as an innovative company, or just another one of the herd who were pressured and manipulated by NP... Sooner or later they'll have to decide whether they're gonna emerge from this debacle smelling of shit or roses... My opinion would be to let things build as they are doing... patch 1.03 will be out very soon - the requisite crack will appear - Quarrion will adapt TrackIRfixer to match - Placebo will get upset all over again and realise this issue just ISN'T going away... Once the Baying Hordes can at least play without crashes at more than 10FPS, Suma & Co might be in a slightly more receptive frame of mind... B P.S.
hehe - yup..... Arrowhead's probably my favourite quote out of this whole sorry mess... a Classic!

This mess of a game they released to early might be the only good coming out of all this. I am going to hold off for a long time before picking ARMA 2 up. I am still playing Arma 1 (With Free Track) and I enjoy the hell out of it. So there is no need for me to buy arma 2.
Good thing I will wait, then like you were saying Bush, I am going to be able to get it for hardly nothing. Then hopefully by that time BIS learns some customer service and fixes this issue that should of never been there. Wait what am I saying there is HUNDREDS of issues in the game that should of not been there LOL. Terrible terrible decisions, this is what happens when money is the only goal. I don't feel bad for BIS what so ever. They brought all these problems down on their selves and it makes me smile to say. I AM GLAD THIS HAPPENED TO THEM. |

I got it "working" with ppjoy, too. But i only got a miserable result: low fps head tracking and the edges are a bit slippery...

Try to play with ppjoy and freetrack processes priority in windows's task manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL). Set them slightly higher... |

To get Freetrack working with ArmA II, download the latest Beta for ArmA II, and then use the TrackIR Fixer to patch the beta exe. I have tested this online with a legitimate copy of ArmA II, and it does not activate FADE
Have fun! |
