I have tried it in general (without making a cap) and started LFS and the freetrack system and was shocked by the FPS i received. I expected Freetrack to be unintrusive.
After looking in my process list i see that Freetrack uses 8MB of RAM (not a problem in these days) but it uses always above 50% CPU power and sometimes up to 100%? That can't be the idea. No sim can work alongside that?

Ouch. Keep in mind that webcams are cpu consuming devices. What's your cpu?
Ensure Freetrack is minimized. Drop video stream resolution down to 160x120. |

Automatic minimization with the launching of an application supported by freetrack is possible in a future version ?

Did you make this test without any IR-pass filter in front of you webcam or with the threshold unset ? Because if the video stream has large area enligthten, Freetrack make a lot operations trying to reconize the led patern out of each frame.

I'm using FreeTrack with AMD 64 3000+ and 1 GB RAM, and I can play games like FSX or DiRT just like before.

You might try to use webcam sensor native resolution? I think this may help because driver does not need to scale the image. |

your hardware specs looks good for me, hell you even have an extra 512MB RAM compared to my rig :D. I didn't really bother to check CPU usage because i was sooo happy that freetrack works, considering the price :D. anyways, I've been trying it out with ArmA and there's no noticeable game performance hit (ArmA is one of them games that likes to eat CPU's and memory :dev:) so I'd say that whatever the CPU usage that freetrack has, it's small enough for a comfortable game experience. hope this helps my spec is as follows Intel P4 640 3.2GHz 1GB DDR2 RAM Logitech Quickcam IM (average freetrack FPS is >27) |
