Those are the two games I am most interested, I built a 4-LED system with crappy IR LED and will build a second one with SFH485Ps. But I am still not sure if I need 4-LEDs setup
1. FS2004: since the X, Y, Z translations are not implemented, and tilting head is not that useful, it means that I basically get yaw and pitch, which for me is quite OK. For that, do I need a 4 LED setup, or I can do get them with a 1-LED setup? 2. PF+FB+AEP: is this game supported? What axis? Thanks for the information! |

Hello rbonon.
1) If you only need yaw and pitch , the 1 led setup works fine. 2) In IL2/FB/AEP/PF/1946 Only 2DOF is implemented, so even if you have a 3dot or 4dot setup , you'll only be able to use yaw and pitch ingame. The only diff is : - with a 1led setup, a head translation will be detected as head rotation too (system don't make the difference in 1dot mode). - with a 3led or 4led setup, your head translation will be ignored, and only your REAL head rotation will be detected. cya |

I _HIGHLY_ recommend using more than one tracking point for all games, even those with only 2 degrees of freedom.
Single point tracking is actually more sensitive to your head's translation than rotation which is unrealistic and can quickly get annoying. |

Is it implemented only in freetrack driver? I've seen a lot movies IL2 with 6dof, and hope that I feel same when build 4dot system (now I'm use 1dot). Shame for that... |

C6_LeBorgne get a grip man, this program is just another great reason why this game is still going strong. Without all of the addons to the game, It would most likely be sitting on our shelves across the world collecting dust.

Hello Valeo
A tracking system is limited by who handles the less. Freetrack 1dot can only handle 2 axis and is therefore limited to this 2 axis, even if your games can handle more. Freetrack 3dots can handle up to 6axis, DEPENDING OF WHAT YOUR GAME IS ABLE TO DO. lets look at IL2 (whatever the version) : The stock/standard IL2 only allow 2 axis : YAW and PITCH (thats a fact , no need to argue about this ) You can add a 3rd axis (ZOOM) by using your keyboard output and programming zoomin and zoomout keys in your IL2 setup. Thats all IL2 can do. Period. Now if you use a modded version of IL2, one of these mods allows you to use 6DOF with IL2. This is IMO a great addition to IL2 but beware, if you play online, a lot of servers won't let you in if you use a modded version. You'd look for forum threads regarding the CRT=2 option in multiplayer setting, to know more about this. BTW : this whole subject has already been covered in this forum, you can find it with the search function. cya |
