Hi,
the screenshot pretty much says it all: I'm using a Logitech QuickCam Express and as you can see my frame rate is limited to 15 FPS. The arrows to change it are grayed out and if i try to alter the value in the field it changes back on closing. I spent hours trying to solve the problem and even plugged the cam into my old computer. Same thing there. I looked through the forum and all over the internet and it says that the cam is capable of doing 30 FPS everywhere. It seems like the limitation is caused by the cam itself. However I couldn't find any sign of that Logitech built different models which 15 and 30 FPS limits. I bought the cam years ago and would really like to use it with FreeTrack. So if anyone has the slightest idea of how to solve this issue please respond. Thanks in advance. |

Try to change resolution and look if fps increase ...
Try to disable in webcam driver ( fluo light - 50 hz - 60 hz) Try to disable auto feature of exposition ...

Thanks for the suggestion but I did all of that...
My problem is different to the usual "low fps"-problem. In my case the framerate is limited because of the value in the form which can't be changed. In similar threads the users don't seem to have this limit. Does anyone know where in the registry the values are saved? Maybe I can force the framerate to 30 FPS there. Otherwise I really don't know how to do it |

Could it be bandwidth related?
Make sure you're using using USB 2.0 ports and the associated drivers are working fine. Try different ports, make sure there are no other devices sharing the same controller. (System Properties -> Device Manager -> View -> Devices by Connection) Right click on the host controller your webcam is attached to and select Properties -> Advanced to monitor the bandwidth. Which QuickCam driver version are you using? Determine the PID of your webcam: http://www.quickcamteam.net/documentation/faq/how-do-i-find-the-vendor-and-product-id-of-my-camera And locate it in the list: http://www.quickcamteam.net/hcl/linux/logitech-webcams This may help to compare it with more current Express models. |

Thanks for the response.
I tried all my USB ports and even unplugged my USB mouse but no success. As I said I also checked on my second pc. My current computer uses USB 2.0, my old one USB 1.1. My external hard-disks are running fine on the USB 2.0 ports at full speed no matter what port I use. I couldn't find the monitor bandwidth option. There is no point similar to "Advanced" there?! My PID is 0920. According to the list it should be a fairly new model. EDIT: I tried 3 different driver versions, no success...

What's your webcam PID? Kestrel described how you can look it up.

it's the same one the 0920. I've tried everything on this forum and in the logitech forum and I can't figure it out.

I gave up. Summary of what I tried:
-3 different computers -2 different operating systems (WinXP & Vista 32bit) -3 different camera driver versions -all possible camera settings Since nertelo69 has the same problem with the same PID I assume those 0920 models are all defective. So unlike someone with a properly working camera with this PID proves me wrong I suggest everyone who is going to buy a used QuickCam Express to try getting its PID before purchase. I'm gonna buy a Microsoft VX-1000 next week. I hope I've got better luck this time Update: Just plugged in my new VX-1000. 30 fps
