the cap model you can use with or without your headphone, you only need to wear a cap.
I started with a clip-model, now I only use a cap-model.The cap-model gave me less problems with filling in the right dimensions where it is placed. The leds and resistor does't cost that much, maybe make both models and see for yourself what works better/easier. |

i have taken some time to research and looking for parts i can use.
i came up with these components. 3 ir leds: http://www.conrad.nl/ce/nl/product/153831/Osram-Components-SFH-485-P-IR-emitter-880-nm-40-5-mm-Radiaal-bedraad 1 webcam: http://www.conrad.nl/ce/nl/product/990561/LogiLink-USB-webcam-met-LED 3 copper wires: http://www.conrad.nl/ce/nl/product/1082851/Koper-schakeldraad-Zwart-Per-meter-BKL-Electronic also i want to use my samsung galaxy s3 usb charger with a old usb cable. the output is 5v AC 1A. i have calculated the resistor that i need to use, but i dont know if i calculated it correctly. here are the screens. can somebody check the numbers for me Thanks in advance!

I built both versions and I found the Cap/visor style better.

Why? do you have better visibility? |

clip is most of the time mounted on your headphone, so you need to wear it when you play.A lot of people built both models so they can choose.
Why do you choose that webcam with leds?Iam not sure if it is a good choice for ir-tracking.

I have a really light weight headset with a mic. Adding the clip style just felt kinda heavy to one side. I suppose if I would have just stuck with it I would have gotten used to it.

Hi,
your samsung galaxy s3 usb charger is a regulated power supply. Going for a 10 Ohm resistor will be better. |

With how many watts? 1, 2, 3, 5 or 7W? |

According to what you have mentioned.
5V x 1A = 5W
But don't care about, with a 10 Ohm resistor your serial circuit current is about 50mA that dissipate 0.03W power. No problem for this charger. |
