Hi,
installation and configuration of FreeTrack works fine. But when i want to use it in WarThunder, the game won't start and a Windows error is displayed:
FreeTrack enhanced interface ... sth ... unknown software error.
War THunder can only be started again when FreeTrack is uninstalled. No matter what Output Options i try, i just can't make it work.

Going to try it with DCS World soon.

Until then, are there any ideas what i can try?

Thx!

Hi,

I only got two suggestions:
Do you run Windows and War Thunder under different resolutions?
Try to run Freetrack with administration rights.

Thx for the reply,
WT and Windows run the same res,
Adminright make no difference.

The error code is: TrackIR enhanced Interface activation: Windows Software error...
and a HEX adress/code which i didnt write down.

Do you run aces.exe as admin too?
What do you use as interface?

OK, Thanks.
Adminrights for aces.exe, laucher.exe and steam.exe seem to do the trick. Game start either from steam or directly via the launcher is possible.
Interfaces in the output option of freetrack do not cause a crash for both Freetrack or TrackIR interface selected.

now i only have to work out how to implement it in WT control options.

Wasn't there a checkbox where you could select TrackIR? Seems to have disapeared in 1.33.
This will take some more research...

It's some time ago I have tried it, as far as I remember there was a check box (that you mention).

[solved]
I got it working.

here is a thread:
http://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/10031-wiki-using-trackir-or-freetrack-with-warthunder/?hl=trackir
where freetrack isn't recommended, but in the spoiler is a how-to and it works just fine.

But i have to say, it needs a lot of practice...

Your link doesn't work, (perhaps you need to be registered to get in.)

...where freetrack isn't recommended,...

...if you don't have time to figure out how it works. I admit... ^^

I got both, Freetrack and TrackIR4 and the only difference is 130€.
I use Freetrack nevertheless, because of some settings they aren't in TrackIR.

But...up to everyone to make its choice. :)

But i have to say, it needs a lot of practice...

Yes, you can count two weeks of practice to get the right feeling for head tracking, but then you won't fly without never more.

Yes, you have to be logged in to see the link.
Here is what is says:
"1.) Build your own FreeTrack - Headtracking - Device (3-point-cap may be suited best imho)
2.) Install the Freetrack-Software
3.) Copy "HaikuIni" ( http://www.mediafire.com/download/ticmydlzunc/TrackIRHaiku.ini ) to your Freetrack-Programfolder (For example: c:\programs\freetrack) overwriting (backup before) the old one.
4.) Go to your Freetrack-Folder. Rightclick your freetrack.exe and check "Run program as administrator".
5.) Go to your Warthunder-Folder. Rightclick the aces.exe and check "Run program as administrator". Make sure to get the real file and not the launcher.
6.) Close both programs.
7.) Restart Freetrack. Make sure, everything is working fine (look at hte freetrack-forum for support if needed)
8.) Now start Warthunder. You should get a message from Freetrack like "New Game detected. Please enter a name" or something like that. Enter a name (ex.: Warthunder).
9.) Run the Control-Setup-Wizard. You may need to use "simplified" or "full". Answer "yes" when asked for using a headtracker.
10.) You may not be able to setup an axis for the headtracking device. Just start a testflight and try it. It will work fine.
(11.)If it does not work: Try to use a more up to date "tirviews.dll" (Copy it to your freetrack-Folder)"

I hope this helps someone who is facing the same problem.
