After setting everything up the Freetrack only seems to run on one resolution 640x480 32bit 75.000 Frames, any higher resolution crashes FreeTrack. Changing to not running.

Anyway, on this Resolution its working BUT, Freetrack doesn't pick up my IR LED's properly, I can change the settings a little to see the 3 red blobs but the FreeTrack doesn't seem to pick them up in the right hand lower corner.

It's kinda hard to explain as I am very new, in fact a first time user so I am adding a screen shot in the hope that someone can help.

OR, Would it be easier to purchase another camera from the compatibility list, if so can anyone please recommend one that works with FreeTrack and  is reasonably cheap please?? Many thanks

SPECS

Win 7 64 bit Ultimate OS
8Gig DDR3 RAM
AMD 955 Quad Core 3.4Ghz O/C 3.6ghz

FreeTrack Version 2.2.0.279
CL-Eye-Driver-5.3.0.0341

PS3 Camera IR Filter Removed
3 Point Headset
PSH 435P 5mm IR LED's  Powered Via USB

I actually cannot get it working at all now, so perhaps if someone could advise me on which webcam works best with Freetrack IR.

13 hrs trying to sort this today!!

Help   :snif:

Hi,

some questions:
- Where is the sreenshot?   :)
- What resistor did you used,
- What filter do you use?

After setting everything up the Freetrack only seems to run on one resolution 640x480 32bit 75.000 Frames, any higher resolution crashes FreeTrack. Changing to not running.

This is quit normal, but 75Frames are enough in any case.

I think it's just a question of the right adjustments and filter combination.

Hi Steph,

Thanks for replying to my post, I didn't include any screenshot as I couldn't get FreeTrack working at that time, so there was in fact nothing to show you.

I used a 0.68 ohms resistor and the filter in the camera is from the inside of a floppy disc.

The IR LED's after checking them on the 'CL-Eye Test' seem to work fine, but not having used anything like this in the past I don't really know what to expect.......

I have read many forum posts saying how good the PS3 camera was, which was why I used this one but..................after having so many problems I began to wonder if any other camera would give me the same grief??

I am going to try to re-install everything from scratch, use an earlier version of FreeTrack and use the 'hack' from here:

http://forum.free-track.net/index.php?showtopic=2416

Incidently I followed this guide:

http://www.maximumpc.com/article/how-tos/how_build_your_own_ir_head_tracker?page=0,1.

Any suggestions would be warmly accepted.

I guess you mean the sfh485p with 6.8 Ohms?! As I couldn't find any data sheet for psh 435 p. ;)

So the mount seems to be ok.

The PS3 cam is a good solution, even if many users often have driver issues, which finally is not your case, so I suggest to go on with this cam.
Do you remove the Ir-filter from it?
Some PS3 has lenses with ir filter coated on, so it's impossible to remove.

The floppy filter is not a good filter solution as it blocks large parts of ir light too.

Try others:

Hi again,

I'm sorry giving you incorrect info, yes the LED's are sfh485P.
The resistor I used was/is 8.2ohm 1/4 watt,  :gene:

The IR Filter/Lens inside the camera I completely removed.

I will definitely try  a different Filter as well, thankyou.

A positive update on my situation.

I un-installed the CL-Eye driver and rebooted, installed version 4.0.2.1017  CL-Eye driver.
Installed the latest version of FreeTrack, V2.2.0.279, copied over the Hacked files for the PS3 Camera and now I have the FreeTrack software running. However its not picking up my IR LED's.
I see the dots (blurred) for a second then the red light on the camera comes on and the image disappears. (All this happens in a split second)

I will be tweaking the settings and see if I can get this running properly. If anyone is running a PS3 Camera and has any settings or advice they could pass on, it would be very welcomed.

Many thanks.

Got things working fine.
For any other people who have problems just keep tweaking the settings and don't give up, if you have found someone here and it works for them then with the same components it can work for you.
Those who helped many thanks.
