Hello everyone,
i am new to freetrack and after thinking a long time, i finally decided to work on it. Now i have some problems:
I wanted to ask if it is possible for me to use my webcam: Apollo Multimedia AC-905. I couldn't find it in the list, so i wasn't sure if it would work with it.
Next thing i would like to ask is:
Do i need IR-Emitter or are Red-LED okay aswell? After reading in this forum i got confused, since someone said there are these special kind of IR-Emitter that cost 8 euro for 4 pieces. Now i have checked a store close to me and they sell these IR-Emitter.
I'm sorry but this site is on german, but i hope you can read and understand the data sheet that is right below the pictures.

I have to say that I nearly don't know anything about circuits (?) and such stuff.

I would be thankfull if someone can help me, would really like to use FreeTrack after i finally decided to do so :)

Hello,
I didnt have a chance to use that kind of webcam, but the best answer that I can give you is: test it! Try to open it up and remove IR filter (if you decide to use IR LED) IR removal is walk in the park on some models, but hard as hell on the others, but you can't know until you try it. :)

As for the LED, I think that normal LED should work (there were some reports of succesful builds on the forum) but IR LED will be much more accurate if you can remove the IR filter from the webcam, and apply a light filter (35mm film or floppy disk).
Anyway, I'm not sure where are you from, but since you mentioned german language I'll pressure that you are from around. I purchased my OSRAM SFH485p from "Conrad Electronic" in Heidelberg, I think the cost was 5euro for 10 LEDS. Dont worry about circuits, I didnt know either, there are schematic pictures all over the forum.
I've build my first freetrack 1 month ago, and I'm having a blast :D I'm not getting out of my A10C Warthog.

P.S. you can get them here for 0.5e each, they can send them to you too.

Thank you for your answer, I will have to try to remove the IR filter, still i wasn't sure if someone could tell me already if it is possible or not at all.

I just realized that my weblink is not on the post so you couldn't see the ones i have selected :(

http://www.conrad.de/ce/de/product/181710/IR-LED-5-MM-HE1-240AC/0212521&ref=list

They cost 0.25e each so they are cheaper, but I'm not sure if these would be good for FreeTrack. Since I am limited in money (that's why I want to use FreeTrack and not TrackIR :P) i want to purchase things that i need to without buying several IR-Emitter to find out the last ones are the best xD

Hi. I'm using red LED's and they do work. I do need to adjust the settings of my camera and the threshold of FT, but it works great once set up!
