Hi all, I posted this question on the EZDok forum a couple of days ago but have had no replies, other than one from the developer (I think) stating that they don't support Freetrack. Fair enough. Here's my problem:

I've got Freetrack and EZDok connected successfully (I had to turn off antivirus otherwise the PC stuttered horribly when they connected to each other, and also had to disable UAC).

After about 5 minutes of flying a whole bunch of windows error messages start popping up continuously with the following message:

access violation at address 7ab84280 in module 'npclient.dll' Read of address 00000044.

I've tried with CumulusX (my only other active addon at the time) enabled and disabled with no difference. I'm running Win7 64-bit with 8gb of RAM, the latest versions of Freetrack and EZDok, and FSX Gold (SP2 with acceleration installed).

EZDok's a great addon and it'll be a crying shame if it won't play nicely with Freetrack.

Oh yes !
I have exactly the same problem. After a while, running FSX with freetrack & EZDock, the view freezes and many error messages !
I'm runnning it on windowsxp pro sp3.
Help would be useful
Thanx

Same here.

I contacted Mantifarr about out, and I sent him an error report several months ago, but he never got back to me.

Looks like it's refund time on EZDok then. Shame, it's a great add-on but flying without freetrack doesn't bear thinking about. Who needs Track IR when they have a PS3 Eye :-)

Anyone find a resolution to this? Would love to get them to play nice together.

While a batch file that kills and restarts EZDok works, it's a very crude fix, when the software should work together. What is so different between TrackIR and Freetrack? Some sort of copyright problem? EZDok has a special link to TrackIR - which should work equally well with Freetrack?

Anyone else with a better solution? I love EZDok, and hate giving it up to use Freetrack. I hope that the programmers up here can come up with a good permanent fix.

So this is a replacement for FreeTrack? Where does it end?    Sounds like I should load this instead of FreeTrack, but I'll read a little more before doing so. I hate to install some batch file that kills and restarts EZDok - just one more little piece of code that can mess around with the scheme of things.

That's what I like about these forums. Shame that FreeTrack has stopped development.

It would seem that a better approach would be to have a routine that  turns off EZdock when the error occurs and then restarts it automatically, rather than programming a scheduler, which is cumbersome. I am sure that some smart programmer could do it in a few minutes.

It doesn't work that way. If you try to restart EZCA after the crash the point of view won't move unless you restart FreeTrack as well (or the program that benefits from tracking, I don't remember well).

It probably happens for the TrackIR interface limitation:

Must be started before starting a game and if it is restarted, any running game that was receiving data must also be restarted (unless the game has special provision to restart the TrackIR interface).

Writing a script to close and restart EZCA when the error occurs would be a piece of cake.
