Off line Www

Went out and bought a logitech webcam 120.  Picked it up at target for about 18dollars.

After destroying about 20 percent of the camera I finally found the rubber plug that gave access to the screw that held the thing together.

After splitting the casing open, About 5 pieces fell out.

I unscrewed the lens and looked for the filter...

Uh oh...

Looks like the filter is under the black frame like piece.

What do I do now?

There are probably two small screws holding the plastic retainer to the circuit board.
Look on the opposite side of what your picture shows.

Remove the two screws and then you can see the IR filter in the plastic.
You  may have to break the IR filter to remove it.

Cut a piece of floppy disk media to size so it fits where the lens screws in.
On your picture it would be where you see the threads.

That is how I did my Logitech Quickcam for notebooks.

Make sure to manually focus for best IR beams in FreeTrack.

OK.  I guess I killed this cam.  time to go buy a new one.. LOL.

Heres some pics of what I did.  I removed the two screws on the back plate and was able to lift the black frame off.

Then I hastily removed the piece that was attached to the circuit board.  THIS WAS THE WRONG PIECE RIGHT?

Posted Image

Then I noticed inside the frame is a smaller piece of glass looking material, So I figured what the heck, Ill get that out too.. But it broke into little pieces.

Put the lens back on with a floppy disc custom fit circle.

And heres what the half piece looks like.

Put it all back together and guess what?

NON RESPONSIVE> LOL

Guess I killed this cam.

which was the correct filter that I needed to remove?  The glass or the chip on the circuit board?

The filter is on the plastic retainer with the threads in in it. Remove all of that pink tinted glass.

The CCD chip was the actual eye of the camera. DO NOT REMOVE IT next time.
Change your title to say how not to do the mod!

You probably would not see very well if your eyeball was pryed out either! :D
