Has anybody tested FreeTrack with TrackClip Pro? The webpage http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/02-products/product-TrackClip-PRO.html says the clip has active leds (Just like FreeTrack device). The device is pretty expensive if compared with FreeTrack hardware, but does it work with FreeTrack?

Nowaday, Freetrack needs four LEDs ... so it's not possible now (it means it could be possible in the future, I don't know) ...

Good question.
It hasn't been tested but it should work, at least in theory, with the next version of Freetrack currently in development which has a three point tracking algorithm. The TrackClip Pro uses visible leds, which generally don't work as well as infrared leds with Freetrack if there is a significant amount of background light that interferes with tracking. |

mmmmhhh
trackclip pro using visible leds.... not sure about it. I own a trackclip, and have noted the following : - The leds on the trackclip are only barely visible when you look at them. - These same Leds are very bright when you look at the trackir control panel, to check your settings, or if you use a digital camera or a webcam to take a shot. This usually indicates that these Leds operate mostly in IR range. I'll try and find using an IR filter , stay tuned

Hmm. its an interesting question and all but why? A trackclip pro is like £30 plus in the UK and mine cost nothing. The only outlay was the webcam. I've got a 3 point hat clip that is made out of three old remote control LEDs (filed flat) I had hanging about and a mobile phone charger. No resistors or anything, c'mon I was really skint but it works really well.

So what is required to get the Trackclip Pro to work with Freetrack? I have just ordered a Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000 and will probably buy the Trackclip Pro once I know for sure that it works
