Great project.where CATEYE can be purchased?

I must say to all the novice that are trying to make a similar work to take care to all these tools, particularly to the drill.
If u are not expert with the drill usage, let it do to an expert.

At shops for Bicycles and Sport equipment . (6-8 € in Germany/Berlin)

If you fail to drill the holes at the first attempt or even crack the cover partial - don't worry - turn it at 180 degrees and try again.
And more imported: Practice to drill holes like that on similar plastic before you mess up the cover. : )

After these two videos, I'm sure I can say you are an incredible guy ! ^ ^

I'm not really sure that I have just said is english, buy you have understood the meaning : I love your videos !!!

And the end is still amazing !

One more thing : if you do any other video, you may write the new link ( www.free-track.org) instead of the old one... But it's not really a problem, they both work very well...

Have a good night ! : )

Thanks for Your friendly comment, Didja.(I hope your English is better than my French. But i had Latin 13 years ago in school and I must say that it sometimes it comes very handy when I try to figure out the meaning of French writing-But only writing-no spelling! : p )

I'm actually planning to put my tow tutorials together and use them with the v2.1 when its done. I will also go more into the technical aspects of  using values that you can manipulate and get the best results to the needs of the user.

I would also show problems and their underlying reason that people may appear while installing and using FreeTrack  . So that everyone can enjoy this freeware,

Therefor i would dig out  my old adobe premiere , that it would look more 'Professional'  instead of using only the first shoot without no idea what to say.

This is  my way to say 'thank you' for developing it- and keep in mind that I actually saved 150 € for not buying a TrackIR4. ; )

I've builted my own cateye transforming it into a trackclip similar to the one showed by Urze.

Mine is a little bit smaller, not an original CatEye and has been bought in a Decathlon shop.
The only difference from original CatEye is the measure (6cm long), so I must modify the standard measures in this way:

Leds side measure
3,5 cm for  the long  led
2,3 cm for  the short led
0  cm for the central led

Distance between leds
(Upper led) 2,2 cm from the central led
(Lower led) 3,5 cm from the central led

Once setted up all, I've tried to use it in Freetrack but compared to the 4 leds cap version the tracking is extremely instable, and find a decent setting seems to be a long hard work, I've inserted the correct measure and modified all the parameters but is always almost unusable as tracking system compared to the  old 4 led mode!

Another little strangeness: right and left movement (Yaw) is not equal, turn my head to the right is more simple than turning the head to the left

Can someone solve these problems?

The reason is not the tracking method, but the size of the model, the bigger the model in the camera frame the better the tracking resolution, after all, the only way to determine orientation is to measure the observed distances between the points, if these distances are only a few pixels the results aren't going to be very good. The default dimensions in FT 2.0 were never meant to be interpreted as real-world centimeters, the real 3 point model dimensions should be roughly double these for a webcam relative distance of about 1m. The default model dimensions have been changed in v2.1 to reflect this.

Because of the small model scale, the off-center position of the model relative to the center of rotation of your head, is not being correctly accounted for.

Kestrel is absolute right. The Measurement can be seen as relative position values in FreeTrack and not as cm.
I also think that your distances are too small.
After I encountered the same Problem ( but not that worse how you described it), I just increased the distances between the Leds. And now it works fine and I'm very happy with it.

At the right you see the one from the Video(with new measurement) and the left new one is for my Brother.

I personal prefer the Clip, because its lighter than a cap(and i don't sweat under the cap because of my long Hair) , no wires for the usb power supply like i had before, and most important for me: People that ring in a dark stormy night at my door wouldn't be so much confused when i open it up.
Think of Doc Brown in 'Back To The Future -1' ;D

The great Dr. Emmett Lathrop "Doc" Brown,
also known as the inventor of the 4point head tracker:
