Hey, I have a question. Want to use freetrack for fs9, but I don't know how I can remove the IR filter. The problem is: I can't open my microsoft Lifecam vx-1000! I saw in the ''IR filter removal'' anything about that camera, and I took the screws off, but it didn't get open. But this webcam dont have anything to stand on it:

this one has it: http://www.thg.ru/consumer/web_cam_2009/images/43_1482_2.jpg

Can anyone help me with this?
Sorry for my bad English, I am only 13 years old and I don't live in a country where English is the language. But I still learn it. (I also learn French at school :D )

Hmm... After you remove the screws from the backside, pry gently from the seam of two halves with a small flat screwdriver or knife, should open very easily, .... then unscrew the lens from the board....

But this webcam dont have anything to stand on it:

Nothing behind the second link... except the hammer  :D

But, if you mean the stand of the camera, in the first pic its behind the cameras front coverpiece....

Cheers,

sorry about the picture of that hammer.
I will try that tomorrow.
but why do I need to remove the IR filter?
Can't the cam detect my leds good if I don't remove it?

Removing ir filter is not necessary. but it improves quality...

All webcams have a built-in InfraRed (IR) blocking filter to prevent invisible infrared light from interfering with natural visible colours. Most filters are unable to block all infrared light, IR Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) are normally bright enough to penetrate the filter enough for tracking, in which case filter removal optional.

In all cases, filter removal improves tracking reliability in the presence of background light by increasing sensitivity to IR light so that the tracking points can be better isolated.

You can try how FT works with your setup before removing the filter....

Hi fspilot221,

When you remove the screw, the camera does not fall apart by itself, that is correct. You will need to use a little bit of force to open it up. Maybe you can use a small flat screwdriver to place between the two halves and *carefully* pry it open. I am sure you can do it!
