Hiall,
I just found something interesting and thought I'd tell you to see if it gives the same improved responsiveness. I'm using a cheapie Philips SPC300NC/00 webcam and I had it set on default 30fps. Playing ArmA which is very CPU intesive I was getting quite slow response to head movement. After lots of fiddling I tried setting the camera and FreeTrack fps LOWER. Camera set to 5fps FreeTrack framerate set to 5 fps 1 multiplier Hey presto its much more responsive!!! It will be more jittery but just increase smoothing. See if it works for you...

Hi Ed,
What kind of rig you have? Reading your post it seems something is not right. I get a feel that your camera loses or gets too weak signal from cap or there is too much inteference by outcoming light. I have old P4 2.8 with 1 gb memory and 9600 xt graphics card. With FT i use 3 point cap and MS VX1000 camera. And i run Arma with it. With this rig i easily get from FT steady 27-30 fps and practically no jitter (0-6). Have you forced your camera to outdoor settings? And have you sanded down the leds? Don't leave plastic more than 1 or 2 mm above the cathode. What colour the leds are? Hope u get some improvement out of these... Cheers, Snow Oh, and just remembered, A thing worth checking is that you have enough bandwidth in cameras USB line. (and that it supports USB 2.0) (edited typos)

Thanks DrSnow,
I guess I was not clear in my post. Its not a limitation of my rig. Freetrack shows the camera operating at about 38fps raw. But when the camera is operating at 30fps in ArmA the head movement lags behind when I turn my head. My low fps settings make the head response MUCH better. After all you don't move your head 30 times a second so its not necessary to have the sampling so high. Thanks for the reply anyway. Ed

Actually I noticed the same thing when I turned the Multiplier off.
Camera runs at 30 fps, with Multiplier 1. Eliminates almost all lag. |

Ok, a clear misundestanding from me.

Yes, I think the multiplier at 4 (auto) makes the movement smoother but very laggy/slow.
