I can't seem to get either of these games to work with my headtracking. I'm using a 2 point LED system through GlovePIE and FreeTrack, and I have enabled the SimConnect thing for FSX but I can't figure out how to set it in FSX. GRID supposedly supports headtracking through TrackIR but it isn't working for me? Is there a setting I need to activate?

I'm a noob at this stuff so please... any help you can offer would be much appreciated!

I wonder about the 2 leds system you have ..... maybe it's better you use 1 led and forget glovepie and select 1 point model in freetrack. (2 dof)

For FSX using simconnect ... disable Track-ir and Freetrack interface in "output"options.

For Grid be sure you have patch v1.2.

I have both running with Free-track... so it's possible!

How do I know if I have Simconnect installed? I have FSX SP2... is it included with that? I tried disabling TrackIR and Freetrack while having Simconnect for FSX enabled in the output menu but still no dice.

As for GRID, I did make sure I had 1.2 before firing up FreeTrack. Is it just supposed to work? Do I have to enable anything?

I should note that I've gotten TDU to work but it's way overly sensitive and incredibly jittery. I use a Wiimote so with 100fps I shouldn't have this kind of jitter. The JPS is typically around 50.

I never installed simconnect in FSX. I bought FSX gold accelaration pack. Don't know what SP it has.
You just have to select virtual cockpit as view.

In Grid just select cockpit view/ you must see your wheel.

I still wonder which model you selected in Free-Track?
1-point / 3 point clip or cap / 4 point cap ???

I didn't select any model... just 1 point it seems and then GlovePIE takes care of the rest (...I think? maybe I am supposed to set it up as a 3 point system... idk)

I tried GRID and FSX again sans-GlovePIE and I just covered up the LED and still nothing. This is so bizarre...

Do I need a profile or something for each of these games?

You don't need Glovepie if you use Freetrack!

So close Glovepie /  cover one led / Start Freetrack / select one point model /
/ be sure freetrack intercace and track-ir interface is selected /press start

is the skull moving when you look left/right or up/down? You see the led moving?

start GRID  (demo will not work with Free-track!)

you could use it with default profile

Lol, sans means without. I tried just using 1 led without GlovePIE under the exact conditions you just described.

1 LED
TDU - Didn't work - had Freetrack and TrackIR enabled
FSX - Didn't work - just had SimConnect enabled
GRID - Didn't work - had Freetrack and TrackIR enabled

2 LED (via GlovePIE script)
TDU - Worked! - Very jittery and hypersensitive
FSX - Didn't work - Although the Wiimote showed up in the control configuration
GRID - Didn't work

Here's my settings:

Your problem is ....... you still using 2 leds ... as seen in the picture! There are 2 red dots in the black background.
Freetrack dont support 2 led caps/glasses/clips!'

What is good, and what i see in the picture is that you selected the 1-cap model.

Because freetrack sees 2 red dots and expected only 1. Which red dot will Freetrack choose ?????? In the lower right corner you also see two red dots... saying you there is a problem. I should be 1 green dot telling you: I expect 1 led and see 1 led !

I tried to simulate your problem: I have a 3-led cap construction... when i select the 1 point clip and freetrack sees all 3 leds it is not working (3 red dots)
When I cover to leds (with my hands ) freetrack is working properly.

My advise: Make a 3 led cap/clip, or for your special glasses cover 1 led with tape or so. Or buy one .. see: This Post

edit: and close Glovepie!
