Hello there,

I am sorry to ask, because I'm sure this question has already been answered, but i could find nothing on the search.

I managed to connect my wiimote to my laptop with the default vista bluetooth stack. I'm sure its working because some other wiimote related programs work. But when I start freetrack, i can select "Wii Remote #1" but the start button is greyed out.
Does freetrack require a stack other than vista's even when the remote connects properly? Or am i doing something else wrong?

Thanks for your answers.

Greetz,

I'm new to this myself but just went through what you are describing.

I run Vista Home Premium 64bit and have tried many different Bluetooth stacks over the last couple of days.  I have already found that stacks that work with the Wiimote Smoothboard and Wiimote Whiteboard may NOT work at all with Freetrack so just forget about what people say about that.  Freetrack is all that counts.

You are correct, the default Vista stack connects but the button in Freetrack to Start will remain greyed out.

The ONLY stack that I have found that WORKS so far under Vista 64bit is Bluesoleil 6.2.227.11.   I assume this stack and newer will all work but have not tried a newer one yet.

Also for everyone elses interest, Bluesoleil stack 6.0.227.0 will connect but does NOT fully support the wiimote and will cause an immediate bluescreen reboot when starting head tracking.  I assume that this stack and earlier may connect but will NOT work.

It is extremely frustrating that the only stacks that might acutally work under Vista 64bit are rather expensive payware.

So to summarise...

---Vista 64bit WiiMote Support---

Bluesoleil stack:
6.2.227.11 and newer WORKS
6.0.227.0 and older does NOT work.

MS stack:
No.  Appears to connect to wiimote but Start button is greyed.

Widcomm stack:
Unknown.  They aren't making their Bluetooth stacks the way they did a year ago.  Older versions do not support Vista.  The newer versions appear to add functionality to the MS stack.  I would try it but they do not support any dongles that I own.  If you have a dongle that supports Widcomm 6 or higher please tell us how it works!
