Good day.
Will be the following specs. of IR-Led good for FreeTrack:

d=5mm,
wave length=880nm (width=50nm)
P=30mW
Imax=50
Vforward =1.3V on I = 20mA
Angle =30degrees

Visual (Russian site): http://www.chip-dip.ru/product0/32441.aspx

And will the increasing of Current  up to max. for this Led (which is 50mA)  another words decreasing calculated R improve tracking. Or leave it 20mA in calculations?
Thank you.

Hello dimkadimka

This led seems well suited for freetrack.

The only problem is its narrow beam. But you can widen the beam by sanding the led case a bit.

About the current , it depends of your webcam sensitivity to IR.

If you have a stock (unmodified) webcam, chances are you'll have to work at about 50mA, since your webcam won't be IR optimized.

If you have an IR modded webcam, you'll usually find 20ma  a more adequate value.

You'll have to check and try.
If you're unsure, i suggest you buy several resistors (they're very cheap components) to adjust your setting at the desired value.

Thank you.
1.What angle of Led is optimum?  What to search?
2.Is light flatten of led's cap needed while sanding?
